Embracing uncertainty
I’ve always come up with ideas for apps to make, for things to do, for things to sell, only to give up before actually trying. Looking back, many of the ideas I had could have been one of unicorns around. Maybe they would never grow as the ones on the market today have? yes, maybe not, but the point is I lost the opportunity.
Always for one reason or another…. too tired, too time consuming, requires a lot of capital, requires setting up a company to start… always an excuse.
Come end of 2019, wife gets sick, hospitalized, misdiagnosed she had 3 tumors that would up only be surgically removed mid 2021 (peak Covid, not fun). End of 2020, my job at the time became very unstable and at this point my wife had been correctly diagnosed, immediately started looking for my next jump also thinking about the medical bills that would come with the surgery. Changed jobs + started freelancing on the side so that we could have a buffer but also more security.
It was that moment that I realized that in today’s economy, security happens the same way as investments do: by not putting all your eggs in the same basket. What that means is not relying on a single source of income.
At this point I was hooked, my brain started rushing to figure out what other ways I could generate more income, preferably passive. All those ideas start coming up on my head again, not to build them, no, but to give myself some encouragement that I was on the right path once, I can be again.
And this is where the Micro SaaS founder journey begins. In this newsletter I will share struggles, decisions made, services I use, services I tried, and progress as I launch new products.
What’s the goal?
Eventually be able to rely solely on the income coming from the various apps, investments, and side businesses.
Maybe it’s a farfetched dream now, but at least I have a path to follow.
